Bike Medicine's traditional chain-holder
The Bike Medicine Chain-holder is our favorite. It is an improvement over the professional bench mark Var tool of a generation. There is very little to wear out and it resists most all chemicals that we have used it with.
Cleaning your bike down with the rear wheel removed, support the chain with a chain-holder. This will keep the chain from hitting the frame during the cleaning process. It will also allow you to scrub the chain from all 4 sides.

Neatly in place… you can run your cranks round and scrub the chain confidently. We recommend a rinsing clean too – removing all trace of the degreaser after a chain wash is critical to the effectiveness of the lubricant.
The chain-holder is also a useful way to keep your chain taught when transporting or storing your bike with the wheels removed.
